Five years ago, John and I started up our own McAllister party of two. (Did you catch that? FIVE YEARS! Wowzas.) Marriage was our best idea we've ever had.
And here we are, half a decade later, trying to prove to the world that we're still as zippy and spontaneous as when we were newlyweds.
John kicked off our anniversary by surprising me with this 5,000-calorie breakfast of champions. He incorporated 3 of my 4 favorite foods: pineapple, bacon, and homemade whipped cream. (He decided against the garlic bread.) The two most amazing miracles of our anniversary were: 1) John's work pushed everything back two hours (this never happens), so he didn't have to show up until 9:00, and 2) both of our boys slept in, so John and I got to enjoy a relaxing breakfast by ourselves (for a few minutes).
For our date we had a delicious dinner at The Chancery. We picked that restaurant for its proximity to a beautiful nature trail, which was our after-dinner activity-- John and I just love going on walks together. We only made it about 4 minutes on the trail before our faces were ready to freeze off! It was painfully cold. So we turned around and rushed back to the warmth of the car. (We felt justified when we found out later that the windchill was -5 degrees.)
Cole was so excited by the anniversary celebration that he grew his first tooth! You've got to squint to see it, but it's there. Hip hip hooray!
Happy 5th Anniversary to us! Tons more to come.
