Superbabes Reunion

Struck by wonder at this picture?
Mesmerized?  Enchanted?
13 years ago, when Brittany, Joy, Chelsey, and I were college roommates, it occurred to us that if we could somehow smash our genes into one single woman, she'd be irresistible.  She'd dazzle the world with her wit, charisma, and endless talents.   She'd be a Superbabe.  From that day on, we (and basically everyone around us, minus everyone around us) referred to ourselves as The Superbabes.

Since those glory days, we've remained as favorite friends, and our numbers have quintupled.  One huge perk to moving to Virginia is that now we all live within 2 hours of each other!  Brittany lives in Harrisonburg, I live in DC, Joy lives in Richmond, and Chelsey lives in Raleigh.  Perfect! Last month, we met at the midpoint (Richmond) for an official Superbabes Reunion.

The guys we married are pretty super too.
TED (Joy's guy): Business tycoon and golfball splat painter
MICHAEL (Brittany's guy): Orthodontist and pizza chef
KEVIN (Chelsey's guy): Ophthalmologist and filmmaker
JOHN (my guy, duh): Ophthalmologist and bizarre accent specialist

Above are 2 of the 4 Supermen (John and Kevin) giving all the squealing kids a ride at the park.

Annie and Christian enjoyed their first date of a wood chip brunch.

Our collective 12 kids performed pool stunts for several hours, and finally got out when they all looked like prunes.

There was a flurry of excitement whenever a train would pass behind the Lansing grandparent home.  We'd hear it coming a mile before it appeared.  Pretty sweet to have the James River as the backdrop to our reunion!  Don't mind if we move in.

And then what's a reunion without trampoline tricks late into the night?

These guys are the best, and I'm so glad we live within driving distance.  We can't wait for the next Superbabes event: apple picking in October!

It's wonderful that you four college roommates are still so close. The kids look like they'd be happy to go to one of those reunions once a month! I loved the picture of Annie and Christian together eating their wood chip brunch!
