I hit the jackpot and won a mother's helper for TWO WHOLE WEEKS! Not only was this girl free, available at all hours of the day and night, cheerful and uncomplaining, an immense help with the kids and household duties, but she was also so much fun!
This amazing mother's helper is named Rachel McAllister, John's little sister. She is in between semesters at college and had a little extra time, so she flew to Milwaukee to help.
This is how John felt about Rachel's visit.
Rachel acted like my mundane routine was exciting! Here she is documenting our trip to Whimsikidz, the haircut place.
Whenever we went to a park (often), I kicked back and ate bonbons on the park bench while Rachel raced around with the boys.
Rachel and the boys had fun admiring the animals at the zoo
Since she didn't know the secret password, Rachel had to impersonate a dinosaur to be admitted into the Safehouse restaurant. And John being the nice brother he is, joined her. (Even though he knows the password.) By the way, this picture is from the video that was being displayed throughout the restaurant, where they televise people's initiation rites.
Rachel mastered the tandem bike quickly, and didn't even mind Benson's incessant bell ringing!
(Meanwhile I'd strollerblade with Christian and Cole)
We did some shopping...
...and put on a fashion show for John with our new duds.
Of course we took Rachel to a cheese shop, and she stocked up.
And what's a trip to Milwaukee without breakfast at Blue's Egg? Best. Ever.
Rachel unfortunately had to leave us and return to her real life, and my dream come true of having a mother's helper came abruptly to an end. But it was luxurious and delightful while it lasted! Thanks for coming Rach!

Looks like a lot of fun. It's wonderful when your siblings-in-law are so helpful, happy, and easy-to-get-along-with.

She was seriously so awesome with the kids when she was in ATL too. What a fun time! I have been thinking about you and hope you're surviving the crazyness of moving, etc....
