We drove to Philly last week to visit my parents for an ophthalmology conference, funded by John's residency. Here are some stats from our trip:
1700 miles
28 hours in the car
$70 in gas (thank you Prius)
8 coloring books completed
2 books on CD completed: Jungle Book and Goose Girl
3 viewings apiece of Tarzan and Little Einsteins
2 meltdowns from the boys (not bad)
PHILADELPHIA WAS FULL OF...
FRIENDS
Our buddies Jackson, Erin, and Todd met us for lunch one day at Benjamin Franklin's old haunt, The City Tavern. To find out the difference between little boys and little girls, simply note Benson and Cole compared with the Lyman girls.
CARRIAGE RIDES
FOOD FOOD FOOD
We went on a dinner date with my parents to a greenhouse. Its style was "shabby chic." It was the earthiest restaurant I've ever experienced!
CLIMBING INTO THE LOFT
My parents make kids work for it if they want to play up there.
TRAIN RIDES
FAMILY HOME EVENING RELAY RACES
CHEESESTEAKS
THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS
LONGWOOD GARDENS
This is supposedly the #1 garden place on earth. It's incredible. John and I are going to buy it from the DuPont family, just as soon as John gets his first paycheck.
THE PLEASE TOUCH MUSEUM
PLAYGROUNDS
BEST BUDS
My favorite childhood friend Joy drove up from Richmond to spend a few days with us.
PLAYDATES
We drove to Delaware for a fun morning with Stephanie Itri and her boys.
THE PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW
RITA'S WATER ICE
My brother Tyson and I always get Rita's when I'm in town.
THE VIENNA BOYS CHOIR
Absolutely darling. I'm ready to move to Austria to enroll my boys.
Oh yeah, and the OPHTHALMOLOGY CONFERENCE
Sign us up for another one of these conferences!

Glad you guys had such a great time. I'm impressed you fit so much in in just a week!
Good thing you signed Benson up for the German immersion class! He's ready for the choir :)
Hey, it looks like John traded in his date with your dad for you. Good choice! Looks like fun! Thanks again for letting us crash on your family time. It was so great to see you!!
Great pics! You guys did the same stuff we did over Christmas break, but you look healthier and less frazzled...maybe we should arrange a kid trade for a little while!
