The Folks

My parents came to town!  They left 4 days ago, and I'm pretty sure they're still sleeping.  We tend to get over-excited when visitors come to Milwaukee, and we probably jam-packed the itinerary a little too much.  We hope they're not too scared to come back another time!

Here we are at, you guessed it, Organ Piper Pizza.  I know we go here a lot, but this joint is 100 times cooler than Chuck E. Cheese.  At least.

My mom had lots to discuss with the organist while my dad wrote lots of requests for the organist.  (None of the requests were fulfilled though-- I guess the guy was fresh out of organ arrangements for songs like "MacArthur's Park.")

We put my parents to work while they were here.

My dad is the best at reading aloud.  It's a work of art.  He gets everyone enthralled with whatever he's reading.  I think he should quit his day job and just record books on CD.

Here we are touring the Jelly Belly factory.  My mom bought a pound of Buttered Popcorn jelly beans, as well as Cold Stone Mint Chocolate Chip jelly beans.  Yum!

We taught my parents how to play Ticket to Ride, and then whooped them.

We played a lot in the play room.

We took a cruise down the Milwaukee River one afternoon.

Here's Dad, John, and Benson discussing the pros and cons of living in a condo right on the river.

Mom and Dad treated us to a Brewers game.  Benson won the Babbel Family March Madness tournament this year, and his prize was tickets to this baseball game.  We hired a babysitter for Cole to make the night more special for Benson.

Our future cheerleader kept shouting, "CLAP!  CLAP EVERYBODY!  Pat, clap, pat clap, pat, clap!"

Here are the larger-than-life sausages doing their customary race.  (Hot dog won this time.)  It was fun to hear the guy from Organ Piper Pizza again-- he doubles as the ballpark organist.

What a great visit!  We hope my parents recover from the busy fun and come back soon.  We'll try to play it cool next time!

So we're not the only ones who lure people in to our favorite game just to whup them so they'll never want to play again? :) We love Ticket to Ride! We've mended our ways a little bit and now share some of our strategies as we share the rules. We still win, but usually not by doubling the new person's score....

Thank you for hosting this delightful, action-packed visit. We had so much fun and are ready for a Ticket to Ride grudge match! Hearing the excellent organist play the Wurlitzer theater organ with all the bells and whistles, duck quacks, xylophone and drums at Organ Piper Pizza had me rethinking my career as a church organist! I love the picture of Cole peering through the life buoy on our Milwaukee River cruise.

Have you heard of Libra Vox? I think it's spelled like that and you can record books to be listened to by others, for free, on there. It's awesome!

You guys are so fun! I wish we were neighbors!
We just played Ticket to Ride (even though we've had it for four years!) for the first time a month ago - it is SO fun!
Maybe, if we can find cheap tickets to ride next summer, you can jam pack in some wildness for us (I would love to come and see you guys!)
We love you! And congrats to Cole! Way to choose intellect - we're sure some perfect wit will come with that too ... it definitely runs in the family!
