My younger brother Tyson has been living in Brazil for the last 2 years serving as a missionary for our church. He averaged 60 hours of work each week and got paid... NOTHING! (Missionaries pay their own way-- a mission costs about $300/month.) Last Thursday night, my family waited anxiously at the Philadelphia airport for Tyson's flight to arrive from Sao Paulo, getting their hopes up every time a new group of people walked towards the exit.

drum roll... IT'S TYSON!!! HE MADE IT!!! HALLELUJAH!!! This is the moment my parents have been dreaming about for 24 months.

This was a highly anticipated hug (on both sides).

Here's Tyson with the airport welcoming committee. (A bunch of us would arrive in PA the next night, so we missed this event.)

To celebrate Tyson's homecoming, we had a weekend of nonstop fun. First we went on an old fashioned train ride. (We actually saw them shoveling coal into the engine.)

We had a lunch party while we were aboard the train.

Here's my mom (left) with her two sisters, Marjorie Sue and RoseAnn, who both traveled to PA for the occasion. (The occasion being Tyson's homecoming, not the choo-choo train ride!)

It was fun to watch the beautiful PA scenery whiz past us.

We also went on a boat ride on the Delaware river. Our tour guide showed us the area where General Washington crossed with his troops on Christmas Eve. (You know that painting?)

Just playing on the boat.

Here's John and Caleb overlooking the Delaware. We all crossed this bridge and walked into New Jersey! We straddled our legs over two states to officially say we were in two places at the same time.

Here are the Babbel kids playing Moods. (Tara, Tyson, me, Elise, and Elise's husband Oliver.) You know how board games have pictures of people playing the game on the back of the box? We're thinking of submitting this one.

Tyson had fun playing with the 3 new family babies--they were all born while he was in Brazil. From the left to the right, it's Chase, Zaya, and Benson.

WELCOME HOME TY-SONE! Tyson thinks his mission was the best thing he's ever done, and it was the happiest, hardest 2 years of his life. We're so proud of him!

It was fun to see all of the pictures of our weekend celebration. Thanks for risking your life hanging out of a moving train to get that picture of everyone at the train windows.
Hooray Tyson!!! We're so proud of you!
Hey Karisa it's Wendy (Kreszswick). You remember me, right? It is so fun to see the Babble clan! I don't know if Tara told you but she came over to our house this summer. We live close to Evan's parents. I found your blog from Cassie Bennett's blog. She just moved into our ward here in TN! It is such a small world!!!
I'm glad you guys had such a great time. Looking at all the pictures of you hanging out with your family made me glad Christmas is not too far away...right??? ;o) And I wanted to say thanks for the invite for lunch on Sunday. I meant to call and felt so bad, but with Ez's naptime it just didn't work out. Hey! I should have left Mike home and come over to catch up. Anyway, we really admire your family and are so excited to be in your home ward learning from the greatest!
So good to have Tyson back!!! I am specially grateful for his service to the Brazilian people (my people!!). Thank you for posting these photos. Loved seeing how happy everyone was to welcome Tyson home.
Great job on the new blog design too.
Keep in touch.
